Meet The Managing Director

Nick James DipPFS

Independent Financial Adviser

I started my career at a large wealth management firm in the name of St. James’s Place. I left with a desire to provide independent advice and vision to create my own firm based on values and client outcomes that I can truly believe in.

The dream for NewRoad really isn’t that big… I want the firm to stay small as I believe a smaller, more client centric approach is missing from much of the world today. In my experience the bigger a firm gets, the less independent they become and at some point business interests start to come before client interests. If we strive for the best possible client outcomes. the success of the business will take care of itself.

Personally, I live in Warwick with my family and enjoy walks or should I say pulls with the Labrador. I enjoy sport, playing Tennis and Golf (badly) when I can. I love to travel with my ambition to see as much of the world as possible, the images you see across the website and documentation are taken from our travels. Albeit, the brakes have been put on any imminent travel with the arrival of our first son.

Having worked at the largest wealth management in the UK for nearly 6 years, I felt it was time to progress in my financial advisory journey and become an Independent Financial Adviser.

Embarking on this new chapter, I am driven by a renewed passion for helping clients achieve their financial goals. This transition marks a milestone in my career, allowing me to offer a more tailored approach to financial planning. My goal is to provide unbiased advice, education and coaching that will empower my clients to take charge of their financial future.

I believe my strength lies in my curiosity to understand my clients and what’s important to them. For me, financial planning is not just about numbers and figures, but creating a pathway to security and comfort.

When I’m not working, I spend as much time as possible with my family and friends. I usually spend the summers in Sweden as it’s now a possibility given the virtual landscape we live in. (I’m Swedish, if you didn’t get it from my name 😊) I also love playing table tennis when time permits.

With a background in wealth management from working at an established advisory, I made the exciting move to NewRoad in 2024. My decision to transition was driven by a desire to be closer to my family and to offer a more personalised, client focused service.

Coming from a family of five, I’m someone who values the importance of building strong relationships. Outside of my professional commitments, I am passionate about self improvement through Jiu-Jitsu, fitness, and beating Nick at golf.

I am a committed Financial Adviser Assistant at NewRoad Financial Planning,
leveraging a solid foundation in Accounting and Finance to support financial
advisors in achieving their clients’ financial aspirations.

Currently pursuing my CII qualification, I aim to grow professionally and advance toward my goal of becoming an Independent Financial Adviser. My focus is on building meaningful relationships, providing exceptional client service, and making a positive impact in the financial planning sector.

I recently moved back to Warwick to spend more time with friends
and family, a decision that has reignited my appreciation for local history and
walks through nearby landmarks. I have a strong passion for sports and their
social aspects; mainly enjoying my Cricket and the occasional round of Golf.
Additionally, I have a deep love for exploring the world, which has led me to
visit fascinating countries and connect with incredible people during my solo
adventures.

I’d never had professional financial advice before and I’d had poor experiences with ‘chain’ FA’s (no response, poor communication). Nick went through all of my finances and potential income and shaped a plan that should provide me with a very decent pension. I’ve left it very late in life and thought panic was the only option. Nick has made me realise that we are far from panic!

Helped me understand what my situation was with regard to my pension, provided me with choices and made recommendations on what I could do to improve it and undertook the next steps that needed to be taken on my behalf. He also schedules regular meetings with me to find out whether my circumstances have changed and to give me updates. He also provides a regular newsletter giving useful financial information, including additional editions on special occasions, such as breaking down new budget announcements.
